BABCP Webinar: Transitioning from the NHS to Private Practice
Last chance to book
Hi everyone,
I’m delighted to be presenting a BABCP webinar on Transitioning from the NHS to Private Practice on Tuesday 7 July, 12 pm–1.30 pm.
If you're on this email list, you are likely already in private practice, so feel free to share with your colleagues who need a nudge
This is a low-cost session is for therapists who are thinking about moving from NHS work into private practice, or who have already started and want to feel more confident about building a sustainable, ethical and values-led practice.
Moving into private practice can feel exciting, freeing and daunting all at the same time. You may be looking forward to more autonomy, flexibility and choice in how you work, while also wondering how to manage the practical, clinical and business responsibilities that come with working for yourself.
In this session, we’ll look at some of the key things to consider when making the transition, including:
What changes when you move from employed work to working for yourself
How to think about fees, boundaries and business structure
How to begin attracting self-funding clients
common worries therapists have when leaving the NHS
How to manage risk and clinical responsibility outside an NHS setting
How to build a private practice that feels sustainable rather than overwhelming
Having worked in private practice for many years, I know this transition is not just a business decision. It is a professional, emotional and ethical shift too.
My aim is to offer a practical, grounded session that helps therapists think clearly about their next steps, avoid some of the common mistakes, and begin building a private practice that supports both their clients and themselves.
Event: Transitioning from the NHS to Private Practice
Date: 7th July 2026
Time: 12:00–13:30
Format: Live online via Zoom, with recording available for registered delegates £20 for BABCP members
If you are considering private practice, or you have already started and want to feel more confident about the path ahead, I’d love you to join me.
Warm wishes,
Sarah

Hi Sarah! I’m planning to attend this, and I unfortunately missed the second part of the webinar series. Is there any way I can also get hold of the content from the webinar I missed? I’d be happy to pay for the recording or PowerPoint presentation? Many thanks
