The Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide for Therapists, Counsellors & Coaches (2026 Edition)
The gift guide therapists never knew they needed.
I’m seeing this trend everywhere: teachers, nurses, baristas, and even dog walkers have their own curated lists. But therapists, counsellors and coaches?
Tumble weed!!
Until now.
If you spend your days holding space for everyone else’s minds and emotions, you probably haven’t had a second to think about what you actually want (or need).
I’ve got you covered.
Or maybe there’s a therapist, coach, or counsellor in your life who deserves a little extra love because let’s be real, they’re absolute legends (and totally worth spoiling 💅).
Either way, welcome to your ultimate Therapist Gift Guide for 2026: thoughtful picks to make their workdays calmer, kinder, and a whole lot more fabulous.
1. Walking Pad
Sitting is the new smoking!!!! Eeek for us!!! So we need to get those steps in.
Therapists sit. A lot. Hour after hour of listening, thinking, feeling… while our hips, backs and energy levels slowly seize up.
A walking pad that tucks under the desk is a brilliant way to:
move gently between sessions
write notes or reply to emails while walking
keep the nervous system regulated without “having to go to the gym”
If you’re a therapist: this is your sign. Or if you love a therapist: this is a very generous “I want you to live forever” kind of gift.
(Here’s the one I use and love – Sarah’s walking pad link. Take it further and measure your progress with an Oura Ring
2. Sit–Stand Desk
Because once you’ve got the walking pad, this is the next logical step.
Once there’s a walking pad in the house, you very quickly realise you also need a sit–stand desk. Check this out for the dream combo:
3. A Really Good Water Bottle
Hydration is great for concentration.
We tell clients to look after themselves all the time – then forget to drink water for six hours straight.
A beautiful, insulated, leak-proof bottle that lives on the desk is a daily nudge:
“Hey, brain, here’s some hydration to help you focus.”
Better concentration. Fewer dehydration headaches. Slightly less reliance on coffee as a life source. Win–win–win. This is my dream bottle - Chilli.
4. The Perfect Mug
There’s something about your mug – the one you reach for between sessions – that becomes a tiny ritual of care.
Think:
calming and minimalist,
colourful and silly - like this Therapist humour mug
5. Perfume
Just because you’re worth it, of course - I’m obsessed with - This Laura Mercier
A gorgeous perfume is a little reminder that you are allowed to feel cherished and luxurious, too.
6. A Piece of Jewellery to Fiddle With
Is it just me that is a fiddler of jewellery - A ring, bracelet or necklace with something to play with – a spinner, beads, a tactile pendant, all possibly a subtle grounding tool.
Perfect for:
supervision
reflective moments after a big session
long CPD days
It looks pretty and gives our hands something soothing to do. This is on my list T-bar necklace.
7. A Gorgeous Pen
Therapists’ brains often live on paper.
A smooth pen turns taking notes into a small act of self-care.
gave me one of these when we started working together years ago as a welcome gift and I still use it - Lamy . Thank you for introducing me to these I love them.8. Book Vouchers
Therapists always have a “To Read” pile. Always, some would say it's an addiction or obsession, but it’s very normal in the therapists’ world.
Here’s a quick plug for my book, an essential for private practice, of course - Sarah’s Book
Book vouchers give guilt-free permission to buy:
another clinical book they keep eyeing up
a memoir that helps them feel less alone
a novel that has absolutely nothing to do with therapy (also very important)
9. Work-From-Bed Desk
Sometimes, after a long day, the laptop mysteriously relocates to the sofa or bed.
A work-from-bed desk like this - Bed desk saves our neck and shoulders
It’s one of those “once you have it, you use it all the time” gifts.
10. The Head Plan (or Planner They’ll Actually Use)
We hold so much of everyone else’s life in our minds that our own plans can get lost.
These are perfect for running your business, planning your life, taking a gratitude moment and everything in between - Head Plan
11. Vlogging Camera
Video might not be high on your to-do list, but if working with self-funding clients is your goal, video is probably in your future. Video will help you build your “know, like, trust” factor – and in turn, your caseload - I’m currently saving for this - Camera
12. Weighted Blanket
After a day of sitting with heavy stories, switching off can be hard. And honestly – how many times have you recommended one of these but not got around to getting one for yourself?
Here’s the one I’ve asked Santa for – Weighted Blanket
13. Diffuser & Essential Oils
Therapy rooms are like second homes. I use this range of oils - doterra
I love creating the perfect space - wild orange is my therapy-room favourite
Soft scents (lavender, citrus and bergamot are all gorgeous grounding blends
14. Yoga Ball
For the therapist who can’t sit still (and probably shouldn’t).
A yoga ball as a desk chair gives therapists permission to wiggle, bounce and move while they work because if we are not at our therapy chair, we can then be found writing notes - Yoga Ball
Plus, it adds a touch of playfulness to a job that can be very serious.
15. Simba Pillow (or Another Really Good Pillow)
Because you can’t hold other people’s exhaustion if you’re running on non-stop broken sleep.
Sleep is a therapist’s secret superpower. A Simba pillow (or any high-quality, supportive pillow) is a gorgeous, practical gift that says:
“Your sleep matters, just like you do.”
After a day of holding other people’s stories, coming home to a bed that actually supports your body is a quiet, powerful kind of self-care.
