Therapists, How to Maximise Your Time Off in 2026: Stretch Your Leave Around UK Bank Holidays!
Resource - Key dates to take off in 2026
One of the greatest perks of being your own boss is the freedom to set your own rules, and there’s no more asking for permission to take a holiday, finally.
I’ve made this post free for everyone because I know how easy it is, in private practice, to forget to plan your own rest. Feel free to share the love
If you do not plan your breaks, the year fills up fast. I’ve done the work and created this simple guide to help you make the most of the 2026 UK bank holidays.
Key 2026 dates to use
These dates are for England and Wales. In 2026, the main bank holidays for creating longer breaks are 3 April, 6 April, 4 May, 25 May, 31 August, 25 December and 28 December.

You get: 9 days off using 4 days of leave
Late May

Taking time off is not a luxury in private practice.
It helps you protect your energy, reduce burnout, and build a working life that feels more sustainable.
My advice is simple: put these dates in your diary now, let clients know early, and give yourself something to look forward to.
If this post helps, don’t forget to share it with another therapist who might need the reminder to plan their breaks too.
