A clinical or therapeutic will is one of those private practice jobs that’s easy to put off.
It sets out what should happen if you suddenly become unable to work, who contacts your clients, who can access your diary, what happens to your notes, and how your practice is safely closed or handed over.
It forms part of good clinical governance for your private practice and is now a required standard for some professional bodies. A Clinical will ensures your clients, records, and professional responsibilities are properly managed if something unexpected happens and you need to stop working suddenly for any reason.
I’ve been updating mine over the summer and, while I was doing it, I turned it into a copy-and-paste template for you to adapt to your own practice.
Also some professional bodies like the BABCP are asking for asking documentation evidence that you are keeping your Clinical Will up to date, i’ve put together an audit form for your records to meet this requirement - Download yours here
Below is a Copy and Paste Clinical Will Template - You can use it to work through:
Who will be your clinical executor - Details and step by step process for them to follow.

Subscribers can copy and paste the full template below.
Hopefully it’s something you’ll never need to use, but it’s well worth having in place.
