In the world of private practice, the challenge of maintaining a consistent revenue stream is often top of mind. Traditional one-on-one sessions are rewarding, yet also limiting as there is a cap to the amount you can earn because there are always only so many people you can see in a day and this can fluctuate depending on how you are feeling. I don’t know about you but my bank account, spending habits and mortgage don’t like these fluctuations.
After being in private practice for a while, you will likely begin to consider other things that you can do to increase your finances, provide more flexibility in how you work or maybe you just want to shake things up a bit.
Starting to deliver short workshops in your private practice can provide numerous benefits for you, your peers and your clients. It allows you to diversify your income and make more money as you can work with more people in an hour than you can when you are serving just one person.
We’ve talked before about how much we enjoy the 1-1 work we do but also discussed how it can be exhausting and if you can’t work for any reason, there's no income!
Me and
talk you through how to develop and sell a workshop. How It Started
I provided coaching for Sheena on her business a while ago and adding in workshops was her next step. She didn’t want to go it alone, so we worked together on her first workshop, I did the marketing and promotion, creating the images and sales page while Sheena worked on her workshop, an asset she will have for the long run in her business. Sheena also worked on the marketing. There is so much more power when there are two people promoting a workshop; you get double the visibility and it’s more fun.
We set a goal of having ten people and hit 12! Sheena’s plan is to eventually launch a series of workshops to educate healthcare professionals on effective pain management techniques. These workshops will diversify her income and enable her to share her extensive knowledge with a broader audience.
is an excellent example of how this business model diversification can lead to both personal and professional fulfilment. The Benefits Of Delivering Workshops:
Extended Reach: Workshops can cater to a broader audience than individual therapy sessions. This can be especially useful for those who may not need traditional therapy but can benefit from some guidance.
Diversified Income: While private practices primarily rely on one-on-one sessions, workshops provide an alternative revenue stream, which can be particularly beneficial during quieter periods.
Increased Visibility: Hosting workshops can elevate your profile in the community, leading to more referrals and collaborations.
Community Building: Workshops can foster a sense of community among participants. Shared experiences in a group setting can be profoundly therapeutic.
Skill Enhancement: Preparing and facilitating workshops can sharpen your presentation and group facilitation skills.
Knowledge Sharing: Workshops allow you to share vast information in a condensed format, equipping participants with tools and strategies they can apply immediately.
Networking: Beyond clients, workshops might attract other professionals interested in the topic, leading to collaborations and mutual referrals.
Adding workshops to your practice is not just a smart financial move; it's also an enriching experience that allows you to share your expertise and impact lives on a much larger scale.
So, are you ready to diversify, impact more lives, and unlock new levels of professional satisfaction?
