Excellent discussions from Sarah, Sophie and colleagues. Really enjoyed the topics. Great to hear like-minded colleagues. Private therapy can be quite isolating.

I didn’t realise how many therapists actually worry about how much to charge clients.

When I was doing my training we had a whole morning dedicated to role playing the therapist and then the client regarding asking for the fee then the client arguing that it was too much.

At the end of the morning we were all exhausted but vowed to stick to our word and charge a well earned fee.

I often wonder how those on the course got on with this.

I know I didn’t as I still had the mentality of “I want to help people who perhaps can’t afford my fees”.

Once last thing. I will never forget one of our tutors saying to us “value yourself and the therapy you offer”.

Pity I didn’t listen to her.

But my goodness I’m a woman on a mission now and I will increase my fees with immediate effect (honestly) or I will be forever eating beans on toast!

I think it’s one of the main things therapists struggle with more than other professions for some reason, glad you found it a useful conversation I certainly did too, 😊
